We are proud to announce the winners of the 2009 Casey Awards and Florida Governor's Awards. And the winners are... Samantha Dorn served on YCWA's youth advisory board, she volunteered with the YCW program in Zambia, and she put together our recent international conference. So what does she think of Youth Crime Watch? Sam calls it "a challenging but invaluable experience." YCWA site standards adopted July 2008 update the training requirement. Kentucky: Students at Turkey Foot middle school test their detective skills and dust the halls for fingerprints. Also, a bully box, a "true" beer label, backpack handouts and more great ideas from the bluegrass state! Florida: Five student projects received grant awards to help take learning beyond the classroom. Grant project topics include drunk driving, cyberbullying, and underage drinking.
