Training Requirements

The Youth Crime Watch Site Standards lay out training requirements for your site.

Your Youth Crime Watch site's leadership must attend Youth Oriented Prevention Training at least once every three years. This is to ensure that new leaders and advisors are fully aware of new materials and appropriate YCW policies.

These trainings are offered throughout the year, including at the annual conference. It is highly encouraged that the advisor and core group, at least, attend this training.

As technology permits, on-line or video based training may be utilized.

Current sites (as of 01/01/04) will have three calendar years to attend

  • a Youth Crime Watch Extended Briefing,
  • an Implementation Training,
  • a Summit,
  • a Retreat,
  • an International Conference,
  • or other YCWA sanctioned training session.

Should exigent circumstances exist, this standard can be waived. The site needs to communicate that it wishes a variance on this standard. However, the standing Training and Operations Committee shall have the authority to grant a variance of this standard.

YCWA Site Standards

Every Youth Crime Watch site must meet our national standards as updated in November 2005.
